Portland, OR - ISFA Industry Roundtable

ISFA's primary purpose is to provide education and networking opportunities to the Surfacing industry. Our Industry Roundtable events are an excellent opportunity to take advantage of both benefits!  Join us in Portland, OR in September to receive education from industry professionals and engage in meaningful dialog with industry peers.  

Cost: $249 member / $349 non-member 
Non-members can receive a special promotional savings of  $200 by registering to become an ISFA member and attending this Industry Roundtable event.

Presentation & Tour of Precision Countertops  

We’ll tour stone/quartz and laminate/solid surface fabrication areas.  Precision will share their path to success,how they successfully manage multiple surfaces, and their unique success with Big Box retailers. 

10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Discussion Topic: Modern Surfaces.  A new category in countertops is emerging.  Porcelain, Sintered Stone, Ultra-Compact Surfaces (however you categorize them) they are growing in popularity, and manufacturers are investing in them like crazy.  Derrick Patterson, Noah Chitty, and Melissa Marney will be on hand from Crossville to share their expertise and insight. 
11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Technology is changing the world of countertop fabrication.  We'll be discussing Moraware, ERP systems, CRM solutions and laser templating.  Tech challenged?  No worries- that’s why it’s on our agenda- we’ll introduce you to the options available, and how to vet what’s right for you!  Harry Hollander from Moraware will be on hand to facilitate this discussion. 
12:30 - 1:00 p.m.  Lunch
1:00 - 2:00 p.m. You need an Exit Strategy!  A consultant will be on hand to discuss what exit strategies exist for fabricator business owners, along with how-tos for appropriate business valuations, and preparing your business for the future with the “end game” in mind.  Robert Hausserman & Steve Mast will also share their experience and expertise regarding the utilization of real estate to ensure the ability to retire comfortably. 
2:00 - 2:45 p.m. Discussion Topic: Living through the Labor Shortage- The labor pool is shrinking.  Fewer high-school graduates are entering the trades, and at the same time, Boomers are retiring.  What strategies can you implement to fill your labor needs?  Alternative Hiring options such as Veteran programs, Spanish speaking programs, and employee engagement will be discussed.      
2:45 - 3:15 p.m.

Discussion Topic: The state of the industry: What trends are you seeing in the Industry?  Has the importing of finished/fabricated product from oversees affected your business?  How do you feel about the Tariffs on Chinese Quartz imports?  Does this affect you?  How do you anticipate your business shifting over the next 5-10 years?

3:15 - 3:30 p.m. ISFA Overview:  Are you taking advantage of all that ISFA has to offer?  Amy Miller, ISFA ED will review the programs, events, training and discounts available to ISFA members.  
3:30 - 4:00 p.m. Roundtable Wrap-Up:  We’ll go “around the horn” asking each participant to share their key take-aways for the day, and what they’re going to take back to their business. 
4:00 - 6:00 p.m.  Free Time:  Explore Portland, catch up on email, take a nap, or whatever you like!  Rest and re-charge before our evening gathering.
6:00 - 8:30 p.m. Group Dinner (Location TBD)

All Day Departures OR Stay in town for sightseeing!  

It's Portland, Oregon in September! If you've never been, it's a must!  Portland is famous for its spectacular wilderness areas.  When you come, stay an extra day or two and be sure to visit the Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood.  If you’d like to do so with other Roundtable attendees, please let Amy Miller know.
